You Need A Barn

Vermont Barns is the barn division of The Wadsworth Company, a custom timber framing, woodworking, and home building company dedicated to excellence in design and superb craftsmanship. Our Vermont craftsman use the same traditional skills to meticulously craft warm and beautiful barns from start to finish.

Our portfolio speaks for itself. We build great places using building practices that have stood the test of time— from exclusive custom-home “barn-style” estates, to energy-efficient barn homes and retreats, to post and beam horse barns, carriage houses, workshops, gazebos and garages.

Traditional

Vermont Barns has the capability to craft both traditional timber-frame and post-and-beam structures. Both processes blend old world style and craftsmanship with the best of modern equipment, engineering and building sciences. Timber framing employs traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Post and beam construction is usually a little bit more economical as it utilizes simpler timber-to-timber connection joinery. Timber framing often allows larger spans and great expanses. Both timber frame and post and beam offer flexibility of open space.

Smaller post and beam barns can often be constructed by do-it-yourself builders. Larger timber frame barns usually require the services of our craftsman and professional builders.

In both cases, our barns are designed and fabricated to provide attractive enhancements to your property. Many of our custom barns are designed specifically to fit with the site and the surrounding landscape.
